Financial Assistance

This office has carried out all the activities of students relating to Financial Assistance/Scholarship matters as well as dealing with the Philanthropist and Donor Agencies. Furthermore, this office also awards the Prime Minister’s scholarship as per approved criteria set by the Higher Education Commission Islamabad, on the directions of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Pakistan. The total number of 2548 laptops awarded amongst the eligible students in Phase-I, II, III, IV & V from fiscal year 2015 to 2019 is a testament to our commitment. There are many other donor agencies from government and private organizations, including the University, that provide financial help/assistance to meritorious and needy students in the form of loans and scholarships on the recommendations of the University’s Financial Aid Office. The details of donor agencies are as under:

Scholarship Programs

1. POOR BOYS UNIVERSITY ENDOWMENT FUND

Every year, financial assistance/support on a Poverty-cum-Merit basis is provided by the University to poor students. For this purpose, a committee of all Chairmen of academic departments is constituted to scrutinize cases; thereafter, the committee interviews the applicants and finalizes the names of the deserving candidates for the award of financial assistance.

2. UNIVERSITY MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Merit scholarship is provided by the University to students who secure the top positions in their respective departments. The total number of scholarships is awarded to the top five (05) students of every batch in each discipline every year.

3. PRIME MINISTER TUITION FEES REIMBURSEMENT

This financial assistance is provided by the Higher Education Commission Islamabad for the students of ME, MS, M.Phil & PhD programmes to complete their education in a befitting manner.

4. FATA BALUCHISTAN MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

This assistance is provided by the Higher Education Commission Islamabad for students belonging to Fata-Baluchistan Provinces admitted on the provincial quota of reserved seats, thereby encouraging poor and needy students.

5. HEC NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Provided by the Higher Education Commission Islamabad, this financial assistance is for needy and deserving students of all batches to continue their studies in the Bachelor programme in a befitting manner.

6. PUNJAB EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND

This assistance is provided by the Provincial Government of Punjab for needy and meritorious students. It is awarded to students belonging to all provinces on a poverty-cum-merit basis.

7. FOREIGN STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP

This financial assistance is provided by the Economic Affairs Division Islamabad for students admitted in foreign reserved seats in Bachelor degree programs.

8. SUI SOUTHERN GAS SCHOLARSHIP

Provided by Sui Southern Gas Company on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis, this assistance motivates and encourages academic performance among Bachelor degree programme students of Sindh and Balochistan provinces.

9. IEP SAC SAUDI ARABIA SCHOLARSHIP

This financial assistance is provided by the Institute Engineers Pakistan, Saudi Arabian Centre to needy and deserving students on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis for Bachelor programmes.

10. LATE IMDAD MUHAMMAD SHAH MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Provided exclusively by the Sayed Late Imdad Muhammad Shah family, this assistance is for fresh batch students in Bachelor degree programmes on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis.

11. SINDH EDUCATION ENDOWMENT FUND

Provided by the Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, this assistance is awarded on a Poverty-cum-Merit basis to students in Bachelor degree programmes.

12. MEEZAN EDUCATIONAL TRUST

Provided by Meezan Educational Trust, this assistance helps needy and deserving students of all batches to continue their studies in a befitting manner.

13. ABDUL MAJEED BROHI MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

This assistance is awarded to needy and deserving students on a poverty-cum-merit basis for Bachelor degree programmes.

14. MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP

Provided by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, this assistance is for non‑Muslim students on a poverty-cum-merit basis and is applicable only for Bachelor degree programmes.

15. NEED-CUM-MERIT SCHOLARSHIP (USHER & ZAKAT) DISTRICT MERIT

Provided by the Ministry of Usher and Zakat, Government of Sindh, this assistance is offered on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis for Bachelor degree programmes.

16. NATIONAL BANK LOAN SCHEME

Also known as KARZ-E-HASNA Loan, the National Bank provides student loans on certain conditions which the recipient must meet.

17. PAY IT FORWARD

This assistance is based purely on merit, provided on the recommendation of the concerned donor who consistently supports meritorious students.

18. POVERTY-CUM MERIT SCHOLARSHIP DISTRICT KHAIRPUR

Provided by the District Government of Khairpur, this assistance is for students belonging to Khairpur Mirs on a poverty-cum-merit basis for Bachelor degree programmes.

19. UNITED MEMON JAMAAIT

This assistance is based on a poverty-cum-merit basis for students belonging to the Memon community and is provided for Bachelor degree programmes.

20. PAKISTAN ARMY SCHOLARSHIP

Provided by the Pakistan Army Institution, this assistance is for the sons and daughters of army employees for all batches, enabling them to continue their studies in a befitting manner.

21. LATE SAYED MOHBULLAH SHAH MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Provided exclusively by the late Sayed Mohbullah Shah family, this assistance is for meritorious students in Bachelor degree programmes.

22. DIYA PAKISTAN SCHOLARSHIP

Provided by Diya Pakistan Trust, this assistance helps needy and deserving students to continue their studies for a period of four years.

23. LATE ATTA MUHAMMAD SOMROO MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

Provided by the late Atta Muhammad Somroo family, this assistance supports meritorious students in completing their Bachelor degree programmes.

24. FOUJI FERTILIZER COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP

Provided by Fouji Fertilizer Company Limited, this assistance is for needy and deserving students selected from operational districts for Bachelor degree programmes on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis.

25. P.P.L WELFARE TRUST

This assistance is provided for students belonging to operational districts (i.e. Kashmore, Shahdadkot, and Sanghar) on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis.

26. OGDCL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Provided by OGDCL through the Higher Education Commission Islamabad, this assistance is awarded on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis to needy and deserving students from operational districts, motivating and encouraging academic pursuits in Bachelor degree programmes and further higher studies.

27. SCHEDULE CASTE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME DISTT: THARPARKAR

Provided by District Tharparkar, this assistance is for scheduled caste (minority) students on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis for Bachelor degree programmes.

28. INDIAN OCCUPIED KASHMIR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Provided by the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination, Government of Pakistan, this assistance is for students belonging to Indian Occupied Kashmir on a Poverty-Cum-Merit basis to motivate and encourage academic performance over a four-year Bachelor degree programme.

29. NATIONAL ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TALENT (NEST)

Provided by the Ministry of Planning, Development & Reforms, this assistance is for talented and poor students of Master degree programmes who are unable to continue their higher education due to a lack of financial resources.

30. PAKISTAN BAIT-UL-MAL SCHOLARSHIP

Provided by Sindh Bait-Ul-Mal, this assistance is for needy and deserving students of all batches for Bachelor degree programmes.

31. EHSAS UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Launched by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) under the Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Project, this assistance supports qualified students from low-income families—especially on the directions of the Prime Minister—to enable needy and deserving students of all batches to continue their Bachelor degree studies and motivate further higher studies.

32. DR A.W BHATTI MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Provided by Alert Citizen Welfare Organization, Workshop Road, Sukkur Sindh, with the support of Dr. A.W Bhatti (a well‑known orthopedic surgeon settled in the USA and philanthropist), this scholarship supports needy and deserving students to complete their education in a befitting manner and encourages them to pursue further higher education at international universities. In addition, with the support of the Honorable Dr. A.W Bhatti, 25 computers with all accessories were donated for the establishment of a TOEFL/GRE/IELTS Preparation & Examination Center at the English Department of QUEST.
