Directorate of ICT
Overview
The Directorate of ICT provides voice, data, web, videoconference, hardware & software support, and network services, linking QUEST’s intranet to the world via a 275 Mbps fiber backbone.
Data Centre & Network Infrastructure
Our Tier-2 ICT Data Centre features a 40-Giga core network, 10-Giga uplinks with 1 G node ports, blade servers, and SAN storage on an optical-fiber backbone—ensuring 24×7 high-availability and uninterrupted wired & wireless connectivity.
Voice & Data Services
500 voice and 1,000 data points are deployed campus-wide. Our legacy Alcatel exchange (300 analog lines) has been upgraded to Cisco IP Telephony, supporting 300 IP phones over the same network.
Web Services
We host and maintain QUEST’s website—including admissions, results, and vacancy announcements—and provide sub-domain and content support for all departments.

In-house virtualized servers include:

- Library OPAC (opac.quest.edu.pk)
- Digital Library Repository
- QEC Evaluation Proforma (qecevaluation.quest.edu.pk)
- Biometric Attendance Server
- Online Testing Services Server
Hardware & Software Support
Technical teams provide on-demand support across academic, administrative, and residential facilities.
Wireless Internet Services
The “QUEST Smart University” Wi-Fi network uses 215 access points across 32 buildings. Access is secured via authenticated login, with additional APs in Chemical and Telecom Engineering.
Video Conference Facility
Connected via the HEC Giga Intranet Network, our VC system enables online training and collaborative courses with HEC and partner universities.
Security Surveillance
24×7 CCTV coverage monitors all major campus buildings, ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
