Dr. Muhammad Arif Soomro is an assistant professor of linguistics at Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah-Sindh, Pakistan. I successfully became an early PhD (code 45.06.01 Linguistics and Literary Studies) from RUDN University, Moscow, with direction/specialty Theory of Language and Discourse Analysis. My dissertation topic was “Address Forms in Pakistani English Academic Discourse: A Socio-Cognitive Perspective”. His research interest focuses on socio-psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, politeness theory, forms of address, cross- and intercultural pragmatics, cultural linguistics, applied linguistics, communication apprehension/anxiety. He authored articles in well-known publishers Springer, UKM, etc and international journals including Asian-Pacific Journal of Second and Foreign Language Education, Corpus Pragmatics, 3L: Language, Linguistics, Literature® The Southeast Asian Journal, GEMA Online® Journal of Language Studies, Integration of Education, Eurasian Journal of Applied Linguistics, Jordan Journal of Modern Languages & Literatures (JJMLL), Journal of Language and Cultural Education, International Journal of Instruction, among many others.
